Talkwish is a calling app that works over the internet, right in your browser. There’s nothing to install, and signing up takes a minute.
What you need
- A computer, tablet or phone with the latest version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
- A Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
- An email address. You don’t need a card.
- A headset or earbuds with a microphone. This is optional, but calls sound better with one.
Sign up free
- Select Sign up free at the top of any page on this site.
- Enter your name and email address, and choose a password of at least 10 characters.
- If we send you an email to confirm your address, open it and follow the link.
Signing up is free, and there’s nothing to pay unless you choose a paid plan.
Your Talkwish username
Your account comes with a Talkwish username, like @maya. It’s how other Talkwish users find, call and text you. You can see it, and change it, in your profile settings in the web app.
Share your username with friends and family on Talkwish, and ask for theirs.
Call another Talkwish user
- Open the web app at app.talkwish.com and sign in.
- Open the keypad and enter the person’s Talkwish username, like @maya. You can also start a call from a conversation.
- Start the call. The first time, your browser asks to use your microphone. Choose Allow.
If the browser didn’t ask, or you chose Block by mistake, follow the steps in Allow microphone access in your browser.
Good to know: calls and texts between Talkwish users are free. To send a message, see Text other Talkwish users for free.
Paid plans and phone numbers
Paid plans are available now. To choose one, open billing in the web app, pick a plan and pay by card. You can compare the plans on the pricing page.
Phone numbers and calls to regular US and Canada numbers open shortly. On a paid plan, you’ll pick a US or Canada number in the area code you want, and we’ll email you when you can. Calls and texts between Talkwish users work right away, and your username keeps working, so other Talkwish users can still reach you by it.
Set up the rest
- Turn on browser notifications for Talkwish, so you hear incoming calls when the tab is in the background. See Make and answer calls in the web app.
- Bring your contacts with you. See Save and import your contacts.
- Protect your account with two-step verification or a passkey. See Keep your Talkwish account secure.
- Read What to know about calling 911. You can’t use Talkwish to call 911, so keep a mobile phone or landline for emergencies.
