Your contacts are saved in your Talkwish account, so they’re the same on every device where you sign in. When a call or message comes from a number in your contacts, Talkwish shows the contact’s name instead of the number.
Contacts hold phone numbers, not Talkwish usernames. Calls to regular US and Canada numbers start at launch, and texting regular numbers is coming soon. To call or text another Talkwish user today, use their username, like @maya.
Add a contact
- In the web app, open Contacts. On a phone-sized screen, it’s under More.
- Select Add contact.
- Enter a Name. Company, Email and Notes are optional.
- Under Phone numbers, choose a label, like mobile, work or home, and enter the number. Select Add another number to add more.
- Turn on Favorite if you’d like the contact listed first.
- Select Add contact to save it.
You can save numbers from other countries by starting them with + and the country code. Talkwish only calls and texts US and Canada numbers, though.
Find, edit or delete a contact
- Find: type in the search box above your contacts. It looks at names, companies and numbers.
- Edit: select the contact, then Edit. Make your changes and select Save changes.
- Delete: select the contact, then Delete. Calls and texts with that number stay in your history, shown by number instead of name.
Select a contact to see their numbers and your recent calls with them.
Import contacts from a file
You can bring in contacts you’ve exported from your phone, email or another app, as a vCard (.vcf) or spreadsheet (.csv) file.
- In Contacts, open the More contact options menu next to Add contact and choose Import contacts.
- Choose your file, or drop it on the box. It can be up to 1 MB and 1,000 contacts.
- Check the preview. It shows how many contacts are ready and how many rows were skipped.
- Select Import. Nothing is saved until you do.
Rows are skipped when they have no name or no valid number, or when the number is already in your contacts, so importing the same file twice won’t make copies.
For a spreadsheet, put the column names in the first row: Name, Phone (or Mobile or Number), Email, Company (or Organization) and Notes. Numbers without a country code are read as US or Canada numbers.
Export your contacts
In Contacts, open the More contact options menu and choose Export all (.vcf). You get one vCard file with all your contacts, which most phones and email apps can import.
Add a caller to your contacts
Once you have calls with regular phone numbers at launch, you can save a caller straight from your call history. Open the call and select Add contact, and the number is filled in for you. See Find calls in your call history.
