Transcripts come with voicemail and call recording, which start with phone numbers at launch on the Standard, Pro and Enterprise plans. This guide explains how they’ll work once you have a number.
Each voicemail and each recorded call gets a written transcript, so you can read a message instead of listening to it, or find the part of a call you need.
Where to find transcripts
- Voicemail: open Voicemail in the web app and select a message. The transcript is under the player.
- Recorded calls: open Recordings, or open the call in your call history. The transcript is under each recording.
A long transcript starts with the first part and a note that says This is the start of a long transcript. Select Show full transcript to read the rest.
How long it takes
Transcripts are made on Talkwish’s own servers. They’re made when the servers aren’t busy with calls, so a transcript can take a while to appear when they are. While it’s being made, you see Transcribing. It shows up by itself when it’s ready, so there’s no need to reload the page.
When there’s no transcript
- No speech in this recording means the message or call had no words to write down, for example when a caller hung up without saying anything.
- Transcript unavailable means a transcript couldn’t be made for this one. The recording itself is still there to play.
How accurate are they?
Transcripts are made by computer, so they can contain mistakes. They work best with clear speech in English, and can miss words when there’s background noise or several people talk at once. When a name, number or address matters, play the recording to check it.
Who can see them
Transcripts are private to your account, just like the recordings they come from. Your audio is transcribed on Talkwish’s servers and isn’t sent to an outside transcription service.
Deleting a voicemail or a recording deletes its transcript too.
